Great Grandma Ruth

Today was the first time Owen got to meet my Grandma Ruth (my mom's mom). My mom came with me to see her, so we had four generations there. My Grandma, my Mom, Me, and Owen. It was good that they got to see each other. He behaved mostly just being fussy in the beginning. Grandma was surprised by his size (as he is about 14 or so lbs and 25 in). We look forward to our next visit. Here are some pictures!

Church

Today was the first time I took Owen to church. He did pretty good, he cried in the beginning but then settled down to sleep for the duration. It was good that he behaved. Hopefully in the next few months we will get him baptized. Here are some pictures from the day in this church outfit.

First Smile

Owen started to respond to our voices with a smile and I was able to grab a few pictures of his first smiles. He's so cute when he coos and smiles at you. The top picture I just thought was a cute picture.

Family reunion

Today was Chris's family reunion on his mother's side. It was Owen's first reunion and he was the youngest member of the family. He got his picture taken with the oldest member of the family Great Aunt Mary Lou. I don't have that picture but I will try to get it and post it. Football Games

Today we went to watch two high school football games (only staying for about half of each). We started our day off watching Chris and my alumni school Westmoreland and then drove to watch the second half of Chris's brother's football game in Oriskany. Sadly both teams lost. Westmo by 1 point and Oriskany by a few more than that. Owen fussed at the Westmo game and slept through the Oriskany game. Oh well there is still hope that he might like football as he gets a little older lol. Also today we had a chicken BBQ for lunch in support of a local church, YUM!

First sick visit

Today I took Owen to the doctor's for his first sick visit. He's been very congested, sneezing, and coughing a lot. Well Chris and I have both been having issues with our allergies this last week so I wanted to make sure Owen was ok. The doctor took one look at him and said that he was very congested (he could see it in his eyes) and said to watch for a fever or heavy breathing but otherwise just give him saline drops and suck out his nose. Poor little man :(

Daddy Went Back to Work

Today Chris had to go back to work after being off since Owen was born. Owen was sad that his Daddy was leaving. Here is a picture of them saying Goodbye.

4 Weeks Old

Owen is four weeks old today!! I can't believe how time flies and how much he has changed already. He holds up his head for periods of time and practices standing when you hold him up. He is gaining weight fast and is a hungry man. We love being parents and can't wait to share Owen with our families that live far away. Here are some pictures from today and a short video of Owen.

Formula

Chris and I decided that we would start supplementing formula once a day with Owen to get him adjusted to formula because it has some vitamins that the pediatrician said would be good for him. He took it pretty well and seems to do good with it.

Losing his hair

Owen has lost most of his hair on the top of his head. He joking looks a lot like his grandfathers now, since their hair dos are so similar. I took a picture of Owen with my dad to show the resemblance lol.

First Scrimage

Today was the beginning of this year's football season for Chris's brother Brandon, this is his senior year. We went to watch him in a scrimmage today. Owen slept for most of the game, but it was his first non the less.

Owen's First Week in the World

After our first week as parents we have survived ;) Owen has been an adventure as we learn what he wants when he cries and his habits. We had our first doctors appointment on the 12th and Owen checked out great, he weighed in at 9lbs. Then we also gave him his first bath yesterday, he wasn't a fan of the water. We are so impressed by all our little boy does so far. He grasps your hand with his fingers when you play with him or when he eats. When he is awake, which is only a few hours during the day and a lot at night, he looks at you with his dark steely-blue eyes to see what is going on. We can't wait to see what he can do as he gets older.

Owen's First Few Pictures

Happy Birthday!!

Today we welcomed our new baby boy into this world! Owen Alexander Smith was born by c-section at 12:54pm. He weighed in at 9 lbs and 2.8 oz and measured 22 inches long. We are so proud of our new little (haha) addition and we are looking forward to the future and all it has to bring. Thank you to everyone for helping us celebrate our son! I will post pictures shortly!

One Year

Today was our one year wedding anniversary. Hooray!! It was a beautiful day out and we spent a majority of it at Slyvan Beach hanging out with family. Chris enjoyed boating and jet skiing and I enjoyed hanging out on the deck taking in the sights. Chris surprised me with a beautiful ring to celebrate our anniversary, the love knot ring. I can't believe it's been a year already. Time flies but we are looking forward to many more years to come. We also finished the day by taking in fireworks via the tv from NYC.

Our Baby Shower

Today was our baby shower at my mom's house. We had a beautiful day for the outdoor event although it was a little warm and humid. We got a lot of great items and neutral clothes and toys for the baby. It was great to spend the time with our families hanging out eating good food. Thank you to everyone for all the wonderful gifts. Also I borrowed a cake pan and made our shower cake, a little ducky. Here are a few pics from the day.
